Yes the CCAA laws should be changed. That is why the union and Paul Miller are calling for an public inquiry into this fiasco. Pensioners should also be concerned about what has happened. The government created this mess over the past 26 years.
If the government had enforced the pension law to fund the solvency deficiency in five years instead of rewriting the law every time the company came crying we would not be in this position today.
This new law should make sure the plan is fully funded in five years or the government should fund it and should retrieve the money from whoever owns Stelco. I as a pensioner and resident of Hamilton should not have to go through this process again because the government takes the easy way out.
