Wayne Job

Wayne Job passed away on April 16, 2023. He was a Rolling Mill Operator and Roller in the Bar Mill. Wayne started on the mill in the 12-10 Mill in 1966 and retired in 2003 with 37 years of dedicated service. He was above all a dedicated family man with many friends who loved his fun-loving and generous nature. He was a hard worker and earned the respect of his co-workers. Wayne had a strong connection with the senior guys from the 12-10 Mill where he started in 1966 as a strong young man, much welcomed for his work ethic. Amedeo Capoferri

Amedeo Capoferri passed away on July 5, 2023. He started at Stelco in 1973 and was a Crane Driver in the Rod Mill retiring as a Billet Yard Recorder in the Bar Mill. He loved his Leafs and enjoyed placing the occasional bet. Amedeo was 71 years old. Please visit the Hamilton Spectator obituaries for more information.

Darryl Ezeard

Darryl Ezeard was an Electrical Tech 2 in the Rod and Bar Division starting in 1960. He worked for some time at the 20 Inch Mill and retired from the Bar Mill in 2000 with 40 years of service. Darryl was a hard worker and a true outdoorsman. He passed away on July 6, 2023. His nickname at work was “the Hound.” Darryl was 83 years old. Bruce Dinning

Bruce Dinning was a Millwright starting at Stelco in 1956 in the old 10-9 Mill. He retired from the Bar Mill in 2002 with 46 years of service. Bruce was a strong supporter of our Annual Bar Mill Reunion. He was 84 years old when he passed away on July 11, 2023. Please visit the Hamilton Spectator obituaries for more information.

Ed Pzytula 

Ed Pzytula  started in 1960 in the old Joint Bar Mill which made special shapes for the rail industry, supplied with sheared bars from the 12-10 Mill. He retired from the Plate and Strip Mills division with several stops along the way in the Metallurgical division. Friends of Ed were notified of his passing on July 1, 2023, by his very good friend Jake Lombardo.

Kirk Moore

Kirk worked in many departments throughout his 40 plus years of service at Stelco. Tragically Kirk was killed January 15, 2022, while working in the Coal Handling area of the Coke Ovens. Sadly, Kirk will be greatly missed by his sons Christian and Paul, family, friends and his co-workers. Kirk was 66 years old.

Mike ‘Elvis’ Litachuk

Rest in peace, Mike “Elvis” LITACHUK. Elvis did not work in the Rod and Bar Division, but he did have a locker in our 12-10 Mill change house, close to the Hot Strip Mill where he worked. He also worked in Steelmaking. Some of you might remember ‘Elvis’ – he was quite the character. Mike, a Stelco Hamilton retiree, passed away from Covid on May 4, 2021 after being admitted to hospital. He was 71 years old.

Eddie Keus

Rest in peace, Eddie KEUS – Stelco 12-10 Mill / Bar Mill retiree. Eddie worked as a Shipper / Loader and retired with 45 years of service in 1991. He was best friends with Robert ‘Yogi’ Thomson, who passed away 6 months ago. They both started in the 12-10 Mill in 1956. Eddie was a strong supporter of our Annual Bar Mill Reunion; a good man, a great co-worker and he will be missed. Eddie was 87 years old. Roger VanNeste

Roger VanNESTE was an employee of Stelco #2 Rod Mill, retiring in 2005 with 31 years of service. Starting in 1974, Roger worked as a coil handler and crane driver. He also worked at #3 B&B and Bar Processing. Roger was 78 years old. May he rest in peace.

Vilis Dabolins

Rest in peace, Vilis DABOLINS, Stelco 12-10 Mill retiree. Vilis started at Stelco in 1952 and retired with 32 years of credited service in May of 1985. Vilis was 96 years old and enjoyed 36 years of retirement. May he rest in peace.

Swavic Prominski

Swavic PROMINSKI started at the 20 Inch Mill in 1976. He worked in the weigh-up. Swavic died of complications from Covid and was only 65 years old. May he rest in peace.

Harold Lemke

Harold (Harry) LEMKE started at Stelco’s 12”-10” Mill on August 28, 1962 and retired from the Bar Mill. Harold worked as a loader and in the weigh-up shack as a recorder. He was a quiet guy, very easy to work with and pleasant all-around. Harold was 79. May he rest in peace.
